Thing I found out is that you can use some rubbing alcohol and a q tip and put it under the rubber flap to keep dust out under the stick and clean it out gets rid of drift

I fixed my drift issues! I would recommend taking a picture before you unbolt anything that way you can see exactly how everything is suppose to go.

I have a simpler fix: WD- 40. Spray underneath the stick. Not a definitive fix, but works!

story time. our switch gets used allot. and we noticed drifting a couple months ago. its not really that much of a hassle cause we only play stardew valley and animal crossings. but it kept on getting worse, and i decided to ask for a repair kit this christmas. new joysticks and some tools. i looked up this video and i was convinced this was going to be an easy fix. just swap the joysticks.. how hard can it be. i'm a mechanic afterall. screwy-screwy is my job.. so i get to it this morning. boy was i surprised how TINY everything is once i opened up the left controller. it all looks pretty straightforward in your videos, but once you are trying to pry in one of those cables with a pair of tweezers and no magnifying glass the reality hits you! this was a hassle! my first experience playing around with such tiny cables. if you are reading this, and want to fix your own controllers.. know what you are getting into. its not difficult, but you really have to precise. i managed tho.. happy with the result. that left stick really was loose. i can feel a big difference in the controller. happy i did this. totally worth it!

Wow that’s kinda awesome of a setup

i bought this exact same kit a while back and it was absolutely terrible. Almost all of the screws got stripped (whether it is my fault, the screwdriver's fault, the screws' fault, or nintendo's fault i am unsure) and I had to drill the screws out. After that the repair went relatively easily, and after putting it together (with barely any screws remaining) i realized there was still some drift on the replacement stick, although less prominent. If you're gonna replace your joystick buy one from ifixit and look for a high quality screwdriver (my sister did a repair on her joystick using their screw bit and it had the same issue). At this point I am unable to find any screwdrivers that will work without stripping the screw but I will look around. I only did a repair on the left joycon (because after the horrors of that one I didn't want to do the other) and I had already given that one a go and stripped most of those too. The good thing is that I can find replacement screws with phillips bits and new joycon housings for pretty cheap. I guess that's another option besides looking for a screwdriver. Everyone probably came for the studio tour but I just wanted to vent about this amazon kit.

Drift mainly affects the left joy-con. One mom even SUED Nintendo just for the drift!

On my joy con,I noticed that the rubber cap that covers the bulb/base of the c stick became loose and travels further than it’s supposed to.The cap then gets stuck between the joy con shell and c stick base and so the c stick becomes stuck in on position.

There's always been problems, all controllers are bound to drift at some point or another, but somehow they screwed up and made joy-cons more prone to it and do it faster than usual

Here's how you fix the drift: 1. Take your joycons 2. Chuck them into a smelter 3. Melt them down then sell the material, then use that money to buy new joycons
